![]() The gardens are wild and beautiful, the result of 150 years of evolution and in recent years, dedication and devotion to restore them to their former glory. Restoration began in 1981 and they were first opened to the public in 1987. The house, first recorded in the Domesday Book of 1806, then the property of the Bishop of Exeter, stands at the very top of the ravine. As you wander along the ravine, you will see giant Gunnera forming a tunnel more than 15 feet high, glades of subtropical Ferns and Palms, Bamboo, blue and white Hydrangers, all nestling under a canopy of century old Rhododendrums, ancient Oaks and Beech. Just to add to this idyllic picture, is a stream cascading over waterfalls, into ponds of Koi Carp cascading down to its very own beach on the Helford River. Trebah, the ‘Garden of Dreams’. |
